Hello Copernicus!

Yes, I've seen this video and the the lens/camera setup. Pretty remarkable!

My first thought was a balloon with a tail. Probably not too inspiring a "first thought" for some....Just a first impression.....

What are your thought's?

I dunno, Rick, with my luck it's another kite!!!

But... the first thing I thought of is that it's some kind of phenomenon to do with heavy smog... it didn't appear until after it got really smoggy.

The second thing I thought of, is why did OpenMinds wait 2.5 years to post this video? scratch

Well C,

To the second question, that's a GOOD question!
Perhaps a bit laggy getting it to YouTube? I'm not a big follower of OpenMinds, but they do seem pretty slick in their presentation and I'd think if this were BIG NEWS, it would have surfaced sooner........Just my feeble mind at work......

Smoggy, hot areas like Mexico City are not good for long distance photography, no matter how spectacular the lens is. And it didn't seem that the 12.5 MP capability of the camera was going to make a low resolution view any sharper.

If you look at a launch of a weather balloon close up, their highly flexible envelope tends to distort much...well to me at least, sort of like a jellyfish! To speculate that maybe the weather package had detached, would make the tail all the more plausible.....to me.

Obviously, my armchair speculation is easy to do. So it is clearly just a thought....

Actually, what it brought to mind for me, was the guy back in the 50's who did some infrared daylight photography and claimed he was capturing the image of a creature only observable in the infrared spectrum. You seen that?
I won't say that the photo's I saw offered any conclusive results. They were interesting.

Anyway, enough speculation for me tonight!

Cheers, Rick

Hiya Rick,

Yeah, you're right about the weather balloon theory, I think... they probably had to have something to show for their trip to Mexico! Very Happy

As for the infrared creature thing, I've not seen anything from the 50's on that. I wonder how the guy managed to get that kind of equipment back then? Was the creature flying through the air, or on the ground?

UFO Described as a Jellyfish Empty Hi Copernicus!

Post  rick1959 Sun Jun 19, 2011 9:57 pm

Hey there!

Thanks for your support on the weather balloon theory!!
Just seem logical bases on the evidence at hand........

You know, I'd sure like a job doing that, with that equipment and pay!!! cheers

Anyway, check this link out for more about the infrared photo business I was talking about: http://educate-yourself.org/tjc/alpha3critterpics19feb07.shtml

What I find interesting about this subject is that early digital cameras had extended range in regard to their latitude of light frequency range. Probably not saying it right, but the idea is that the CMOS & CCD sensors had range extended well into the infrared range, which caused some interesting effects of things "showing up" that were otherwise invisible to the naked eye. It was engineered out of later digital camera. Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_sensor
Remember early versions of the Sony "NightShot"? It could see through peoples clothes?? Ooooppsss!

Like a radio receiver, we can only "pick up" what we're "tuned" for. Why some folks have extraordinary capacities others can only marvel at (and probably gets them classified as crazy, too!).

And of course, folks are scanning the skies with NightVision scopes. What a surprise they're seeing stuff previously unseen.....But what are the seeing? Know I saw only with what looked like to me, something using Flap-power...:-) Other stuff, not so sure........

Time for milk and cookies!!

Have a great night, Rick :-)

Hey Rick,

I read the article at the main link in your post, and found the camera information quite interesting, as well as the images. Although the images could be of a “huge airborne amoeboid-shaped creature”, I am not convinced of that, for a large number of reasons. But that’s just my opinion.

Interestingly, the article also mentions a USO-attractor device… would that be Unidentified Sentient Object, I wonder?

Makes me wish I had lots of money to buy all of these techie toys so that I could get in on the good stuff!

Idea
Let’s see… first would be my own private LROC… and then a remote-controlled moon buggy/explorer! But… maybe they should go to Phobos instead? Underground rooms with atmosphere, they say! But not officially, of course!! Very Happy

UFO Described as a Jellyfish Empty Further........

Post  rick1959 Tue Jun 21, 2011 9:02 am

Hey C,

I'm not at all convinced about "amoeba-like" beings.
Emulsion issues or some lens issue, maybe....Which isn't to say I'm closed minded about how things here-to-fore have yet to be discovered, may show up.
And perhaps there are "unseen" beings around. Ghosts have been a hot topic for a long time it seems!

As for the "attractor" part, Yeah, OK, but it isn't on my top 10 list of things to buy! Hmm, USO.....:-)

Yeah, it's funny, I have boatloads of "toys" over the years to try and get a leg up on what I might find with them. Stabilized binoculars, extreme (Takahashi 22x60) binoculars, night vision, AOR 5000+3 radio with full frequency and all the bells and whistles, and on and on....(Statement: Wish I had all the money I spent on this stuff!!)
It NEVER helped in any way to make new or useful info available. Even the bunches of binoculars I have carried over the years were never "right there" when I saw something odd to look at!

Sure, I still like toys but have been reminded that anything I have seen or been aware of, came through my own senses, primarily sight. So I do my best to keep my aging eyes are as good as possible in hopes I will see something again'

Florida is supposed to be good for sightings. Not sure how many sightings have been misunderstood by the effects of inept observers with their senses affected by drugs and alcohol.............:-)

Anyway, this is a REAL pleasure to bat this back and forth!!

Cheers, Rick :-)

Rick,

...probably some cinnamon bun icing on the guy's thumb, which left a half translucent thumb print on the filter that he screwed on over the lens!

Sounds like you got some serious stuff, but you're right, it's no good if your eyes go on you. And your statement about drugs and alcohol... well, I saw a "good" UFO video where the guys were obviously plastered, they cursed mightily throughout the video, and they seriously believed this disney-like dumbo balloon elephant was a UFO! drunken

UFO Described as a Jellyfish Empty Always amazed.....

Post  rick1959 Wed Jun 22, 2011 7:44 am

Perception is everything!
And what "filter" you perceive it through can make a huge difference! affraid

Even without the "aid" of additional substances, seems like few things get true rational analysis.
For example, I see the video of the Telstar retrieval on the space shuttle, with analysis of the bubble that seems to move back and forth....
Funny, it looked like a drop of water on the inside of the window..............to me.

However, I know my experiences were perceived under "lucid" conditions. Now whether my mind deceived me, well, I dunno. Point is that I have yet to find an explanation that has a clear foundation in anything I understand........

This business of UFO and related subjects feels like looking for a needle in a haystack......the size of Mount Everest.....shrouded in fog....

Oh well, more later!

Cheers, Rick

You guys crack me up... lol!

Thank you for sharing this video, Mr. C - I really enjoyed watching it and trying to figure out what the heck it could be. Also, serious lens envy on my part...

Very interesting, and of course, biological entities that are lighter than air is not unfeasable as there have been prior reports of such critters. Very cool!
